Concerns and Complaints

Peer Review addresses disputes regarding quality and/or appropriateness of dental treatment provided by a member dentist of the San Diego County Dental Society. Complaints must be received in writing, and are evaluated thoroughly by a committee of member dentist volunteers.
Criteria for Case Acceptance
- The dentist against whom the complaint is made must be a San Diego County Dental Society Member.
- The case must concern appropriateness of care and/or quality of care.
- The case must be filed within one year of discovering a problem or three years of treatment completion, whichever comes first.
Cases Not Accepted
- Complaints involving dentists who are not members of the San Diego County Dental Society.
- Billing issues/fees disputes
- Complaints of poor customer service or practice management.
- Complaints concerning staff behavior.
Ethics addresses disputes about non-clinical actions (or inaction) of a member dentist and/or dental office staff or a member dentist. Complaints must be received in writing, and are evaluated by a committee of member dentist volunteers.
The Ethics Committee cannot address fee disputes or other issues that cannot be clearly documented.
